SC Crew Registration Information

FEES:
1st Installment - Registration Dues:
Registration dates:
Early registration is October 1 - 31st, 2012 $400.00
Normal Registration November 1, 2012 - February 4, 2013 $450.00
Late Registration February 4 - March 8th, 2013 $500.00
Note to multi-rower families: $100 Discount for each additional rower in family
2nd Installment - Registration Dues.....(prior to March 09, 2013).........$600...(in addition to dues above)
*PLEASE NOTE: The registration fees listed above presume active participation in team fundraisers. Rowers and their families may choose to Opt Out of Fundraisers and, instead, pay additional fees.
This is an option that is available to all rowers should they choose. While fundraisers are NOT mandatory, they are absolutely necessary to cover the team costs and operating expenditures.

Club Fee:
Club fee covers student-athlete food and beverages (previously donated) for team pasta parties, Occoquan Regatta food tents and Mathews Regatta food tent. Club Fee payment $50 due March 23, 2013. Based on 2011-2012 actuals.
Anticipated Additional Costs during the year:
- Each rower is required to purchase a “Unisuit” uniform and compression shirt for racing; the cost for these items is approximately $95 (2012 cost for both)
- The cost of travel to the Mathews Regatta in VA is covered by the above dues.
- The cost of travel to other regattas such as Stotesbury Cup in Philadelphia or Nationals, are additional for those who participate.
- For example, the 2012 cost for the three-day Stotesbury trip was $335/rower.
- Other costs may be required if we are invited and accept invitations to other Regattas.
- Parents will be notified as far in advance as possible for proper financial planning.
3 STEPS TO REGISTER:
1. Rower and parents must read SC Crew Handbook.
2. Complete all registration forms, make personal check out to SC Crew, and either mail to the address shown on the SC Crew Registration Form, or drop off at the SCSS Activities Office (near the gym) in the Crew mailbox.
NOTE, in addition to the 10 (yes 10!) forms below, there is also US Rowing waiver and a VASRA required waiver that must be completed online (see item #3).

7. VHSL Physical Form (turn in this form in at the SCSS Activities Office, near the gym)
8. SC Crew Photo Release Form
9. SC Crew Swim Certificate (not required for returning rowers) (see below for details)
10.Concussion Test – (online link click on left) to be completed by rower AND parent
After completion, the above forms should be dropped off at the SCSS Activities Office (near the gym), in the Crew mailbox, attention: Shena Clark, SC Crew Membership; or mailed to the address on the Registration Form.
NOTE: The VHSL Physical form and the FCPS Emergency Care Form must be completed prior to participation in Winter Conditioning! (see "Rowers' Corner" under "Information" for details about Winter Conditioning). Submit completed/signed VHSL form to SCSS Student Activities office. IMPT: for the 2012 season, the VHSL form must be based on a physical conducted after May 1, 2012.
3. Complete the U.S. Rowing waiver.
US Rowing waiver Instructions:
-Log on to www.regattacentral.com/athletes
-Enter Roster Code: JST6M
-Type in Last name. (Note to new rowers: you will get a message “No athlete records were found in Mary King’s account with that last name”, please see following that you are to click here to proceed…”
-Click on ‘No” for “do you have a current (paid) US Rowing membership”
-Enter the requrested information – you should see that your team affiliation appears as South County Secondary School
-Read and click on “Submit Application & Waiver”
-You will immediately receive a message “your annual waiver has been submitted”, with a US Rowing number.
-Copy and paste that message in an email and send it immediately to

Returning rowers: The US Rowing waiver submitted last season is valid for the calendar year, so a new US Rowing waiver is not needed prior to Winter Conditioning. You must, however, submit a new waiver in January (wait for notification by email to complete the January waiver).
New Rowers: If participating in Winter Conditioning - submit a waiver prior to WC, and another waiver in January. Waivers are valid for the calendar year only. If not participating in Winter Conditioning - submit a waiver in January (wait for notification by email before completing the January waiver).
Note to New Rowers who participated in Learn-to-Row. Because the waiver signed for Learn-to-Row was not done online (where each rower is assigned a US Rowing number), you will need to complete the Online US Rowing Waiver prior to Winter Conditioning and again in January as well.
The US Rowing waiver is required for participation in any SC Crew activities. All rowers must have a US Rowing waiver completed prior to WC and again in January of the season year.
VASRA waiver Instructions:
-Log on to www.rowingwaivers.com
-Click on “Athletes”
-Click on “sign a waiver” -Choose the “Junior Male” or “Junior Female” option
-Complete your Rower’s contact information
-Choose “South County High School” as the affiliation,
-Enter

-Enter “Mary King” as the Coach/Team representative
-Enter Parent/Guardian information
-Read waiver: Click on “I have read this agreement…” at the bottom, then click on Continue.
-Get a copy of your waiver by clicking on “Completed Universal Waiver” and then ‘control P’ to print. Keep this copy in your files.
The VASRA waiver is required to participate in VASRA sponsored regattas. All rowers must submit this waiver prior to the team's registration for participation in a regatta.
REFUND POLICY:
It is always difficult to accommodate for the unexpected. As a parent, and rower, there are situations that occur that may prevent the rower from participating on the team when commitments have been made.
At the same time, the SC Crew Team Board has a fiduciary responsibility to ensure the financial health of the Crew Team, not only for the current year’s operations, but for the future of the team sport that we provide to South County Secondary School.
As a standard Policy only the 1st installment of registration dues is eligible for refund in accordance with the following refund schedule:
Prior to January 1, 2013 100% refund
January 2, 2012 – March 09, 2013 50% refund
After March 09, 2013 0% refund
Exceptions: 50% of the 1st installment will be refunded before March 9th for withdrawal from crew due to relocation or illness.
