2015 – 2016 South County Crew Registration Information
High School Crew is a Spring sport. Team members should expect to participate in winter conditioning November to February. The team begins on-the-water practices at Sandy Run Regional Park as soon as weather allows in February or March.
South County Crew competes against other high school teams in regattas. Most of our regattas are held at the nearby Sandy Run Regional Park facility, and they will run every Saturday from late March to early May. We will culminate our 2016 competitive season with several away regattas, including the prestigious Stotesbury Regatta in Philadelphia, May 19 – 21, 2016 and, for the boats that qualify, the SRAA Nationals and the NSRA National Championships.
Club Fee: Club fee covers student-athlete food and beverages (previously donated) for team pasta parties, Occoquan Regatta food tents and Mathews Regatta food tent
Uniforms:Rowers and coxswains must wear the team uniform for regatta competitions. The uniform consists of team uni-suit and team compression shirt.
Team Member Service Hours: All team members are required to provide assistance to the team outside of practice and competitions. The service hour requirement is four hours for novices and eight hours for returning team members.
Parent Volunteer Requirement: Each family is obligated to volunteer time to support the team at the regattas. The required volunteer activities are a VASRA assignment, a team assignment, a fundraising assignment, and a Food Tent assignment. More information about the VASRA assignments may be found on the “For Parents” webpages.
Fundraising: Fundraising is critical. All team members are required to participate in the team’s fundraisers.
- In lieu of participating, team members may choose to pay a $50 “opt-out” amount for non-required fundraising event and $200 for required events.

Spring Break Camp Bob Cooper:The team has attended Camp Bob Cooper during spring break the past three seasons. Camp Bob is sponsored by Clemson University’s Youth Learning Institute held in Summerton, S.C.
